Historic Bellefonte, Inc. is pleased to announce the 3rd Hometown Hero Banner Program is in the works. This streetlight banner program is a tribute to those from the area who have or are serving our country in a branch of the military.
The Hometown Hero Program is a partnership between Historic Bellefonte, Inc. the Centre County Veterans Affairs Office and a committee of community volunteers.
Each individual banner is unique and honors a specific soldier including their picture, branch of service, era of service and hometown in Centre County. The program is non-political and non-partisan. It is purely a living memorial to those soldiers from Bellefonte and the Centre Region who served our country.
The Hometown Hero Banner program traditionally is a simple street light banner project that has become a tribute to our service men and women. And not just a tribute but an initiative to re-invigorate our community and to remember that we all do share a common bond and that those soldiers who are and who have served our country around the world are our family members, neighbors and friends.
Each Hometown Hero banner includes a different veteran’s photo and honors their sacrifices and contributions. We hope to continue Hometown Heroes in the coming years so that every Veteran and hero is honored.
And to all of those who have served and are serving our country, we pay tribute and thank you. We are deeply grateful for your service.
